Silkworm Temple is a planned chain of Buddhist temples initiated by Chen Entian, Chairman of the Silk Road International Chamber Alliance. It is proposed to be built in Buddhist countries along the Southern Silk Road including Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia, to commemorate Silkworm God’s Day (Belt and Road International Day) and the Five‑Festival Joint Celebration for the New Year. The temples are designed to support the lantern‑lighting, blessing and chanting ceremonies held during Silkworm God’s Day (Belt and Road International Day) and the opening of the Belt and Road New Year Celebration, as well as for regular Dharma propagation.

Project Positioning

The project seeks to enrich the cultural connotation of Silkworm God’s Day (Belt and Road International Day). It intends to provide a permanent place for Buddhist believers along the route to pay homage, make wishes, light lanterns and offer blessings. Drawing on traditional blessing culture, it aims to enhance people‑to‑people mutual trust, facilitate the Belt and Road New Year Celebration jointly marked by five festivals — Silkworm God’s Day, Christmas, New Year’s Day, the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival — and promote non‑governmental cultural exchanges, so as to consolidate the foundation of cross‑border neighbourly friendship.

Building Overview

Each temple is planned to occupy about 15 mu. Its landmark structure is the Peace Pagoda. Under the project concept, the Peace Pagoda embodies local believers’ wishes for peace, stability and the fight against telecom and online fraud. It is expected to warn persons involved in fraud at the spiritual level and weaken the cultural soil that sustains fraud industries. As a people‑centred cultural initiative, it would assist cross‑border anti‑fraud governance and contribute to social stability in border regions.
