The World Peace Ribbon is the official auspicious symbol of the Belt and Road International Day (December 16). It was designed and planned by Chen Entian, former Chairman of the International 73 Society and Co-Chairman of the World Peace Ribbon Organization. Its creative conception originates from the peace philosophy of turning weapons into silk and jade in the film script Golden Silk Armor, which advocates eliminating conflicts through cultural integration and win‑win cooperation.

Design & Specifications
Exquisitely woven from authentic silk of Yanting County, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province — the hometown of Leizu, the ancestor of Chinese sericulture culture.
The standard size is 12 decimeters in length and 16 decimeters in width, corresponding exactly to the date December 16 (Belt and Road International Day), forming exclusive cultural symbolism.
Origin Background
The Belt and Road International Day was initiated by international civilian scholars, jointly proposed by Chen Entian and Ji Chaozhu, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations. It has received public support from prominent international figures including Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO. As the exclusive official cultural symbol of Belt and Road International Day, the World Peace Ribbon represents global peace, connectivity and common development.
Major Events
In September 2016, the World Peace Ribbon was delivered to Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, scheduled to be carried into space by the Shenzhou-11 Manned Spaceship.
In October 2016, Chen Entian presented the World Peace Ribbon to Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi Technology, at the Sichuan E-commerce Summit. The symbolic exchange became a cultural highlight, as Lei Jun’s birthday coincides with December 16, the Belt and Road International Day.
Global Cultural Practice
The World Peace Ribbon has participated in numerous influential global cultural and public welfare activities:
• 2019: Featured at the Beijing Belt and Road International Day Global Ceremony
• 2022: Supported the launching ceremony of the Xiamen Peace Ribbon Sunshine Project
• 2023: Empowered the Kunming “Release Peace Gulls” Thematic Cultural Activity
It has been officially delivered to more than 200 national leaders worldwide, continuously spreading the core values of the Belt and Road: inclusiveness, connectivity, lasting peace and shared prosperity.
Cultural Significance
Integrating traditional Chinese silk civilization with modern global peace concepts, the World Peace Ribbon inherits the sericulture culture of Leizu and serves as a core cultural IP for people-to-people exchanges and civilizational mutual learning under the Belt and Road Initiative.
